Michelle Griffith was an 18-year-old college student when she started experiencing intense abdominal pain. While her symptoms worsened throughout college, she managed, with difficulty, to graduate in May 2016. However, by the fall she was forced to put graduate school on hold because her pain was "off the charts."
Over the course of four and a half years, Michelle saw 43 doctors and specialists. No one and no treatments were able to help. By April 2017 she was so severely debilitated that she felt she was on her deathbed.
Finally, this past August she met a physical therapist who held the key to her recovery. After determining that she had extensive nerve damage, and instituting a three-pronged recovery strategy, Michelle went from a wheelchair to walking on her own and doing weight-bearing exercise within six weeks. Now, at age 23 she again has a bright future—and a new career goal.
On this episode of Move Forward Radio, Michelle shares her story and how her journey has inspired her career.
