If you work out on a pretty regular basis, chances are you'll experience an injury that will force you to take an extended layoff. Not only will you deal with the healing process, the break in your usual routines, and the absence of a regular sense of well-being, but you also may feel a little insecure and a bit worried.
You may wonder… Is my muscle going to quickly turn to fat? Am I going to start feeling and looking different? Is there anything I can start doing immediately to counter the effects of a prolonged layoff? Can I come back strong? What role does age play in all of this?
In this episode of Move Forward Radio, physical therapist Ryan Balmes addresses these concerns. As owner of a sports physical therapist practice in the Atlanta area, he knows about injury recovery and its effects on muscle mass, and what is needed to return to full recovery.
