Dr. James (Jim) Lewis graduated in 1988 from the University of Georgia majoring in exercise and sports science and obtaining his certification and license as an athletic trainer. He obtained his PT degree from Georgia State University graduating in 1990. Dr. Lewis holds his licenses in the state of Georgia and has been practicing PT for 30 years in the out-patient setting currently at A Step Ahead Physical Therapy and the Brenau Rehabilitation Practice. He is a member of American Physical Therapy Association, Physical therapy Association of Georgia and American Association of Clinical Anatomists. His clinical experience includes a focus on orthopaedics and joint related injury of the spine and extremities. He has 11 years of experience in management including overseeing the start up and operations of three clinics. He returned to school and completed his DPT from Boston University in January of 2007 and began his teaching career in January 2010 as a part time instructor at Georgia State University transitioning to a full time faculty position in May of 2010. He currently is teaching at Brenau University as an associate professor teaching gross and functional anatomy, musculoskeletal disorders, health prevention & wellness, differential diagnosis, and radiology and radiology. He currently serves as chair of the University Wellness committee and is actively pursuing certification in that specialty. Research interests include clinical orthopaedic pathologies and prevention/wellness in all population groups.
