Janet Drake Whalen, PT, DPT

Janet assists women who have musculoskeletal dysfunctions throughout their lifecycle such as; urogenital dysfunctions, pelvic pain, vulvodynia, pregnancy, postpartum, post-cesarean delivery rehabilitation, osteoporosis and orthopedics. Adding to her women’s health experience is 8 years of teaching childbirth education. Janet earned her Lamaze Certification in Childbirth Education for Lamaze International in the early ‘90s and the title of Fellow with Lamaze International in 2000. In 2010 she earned her certificate in pelvic floor physical therapy (CAPP). She also provides treatment for men with urinary leakage, pelvic and genital pain, post-surgical conditions such as hernia repairs and prostatectomy. She has served as the Pennsylvania Representative for the Women’s Health Section of the American Physical Therapy Association. She has been a speaker on women’s health issues to the public and her colleagues. Janet’s background also includes home health care and rheumatology.  She earned her certification in professional yoga therapy in 2015 a program designed for health care professionals incorporating yoga principles into their practice. In 2016 she earned her certification as a Therapeutic Pain Specialist bringing the latest information on pain science to her practice. Janet earned her DPT in 2017. Her hope for her patients and clients is that they will be able to connect self-thought (mind) with their body for a healthier fulfilling life.
