Practice Description: Wake Forest Baptist Health - Lymphedema therapy working 1:1 with patients and their families to help manage and improve lymphedema management. Instruction includes exercise to improve mobility and strength to support the lymphatic system and improve it's flow. Practice also includes oncology practice to return to normal activity after treatment.

James Michael Byers, PT, MPT

James M. Byers, PT, MPT, CLT-LANA holds a Master of Physical Therapy degree as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry/Economics from University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill. Jim has been doing lymphedema treatment for the last 9 years. He was initially instructed at the University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee and is certified through the Lymphology Association of North America (LANA). In 2017, he completed the comprehensive management of peripheral edema certification from the Oncology Section of the American Physical Therapy Association. Prior to joining the staff at WFBH, Jim worked at a variety of locations in Rochester, NY and Pittsburgh, PA where he worked in stroke/TBI rehab, orthopedics, oncology, and chronic pain. As an avid swimmer, Jim also specializes in general orthopedics and sports. He enjoys gardening, spinning, and weight training.
