About

Lori Pratt Alexander, PT, DPT

Dr. Lori Alexander founded The Physical Therapy Zone in 2011. Dr. Alexander began her career as a physical therapist working for the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, immediately after graduating from Boston University. During Dr. Alexander’s five year tenure at the Mayo Clinic, she specialized in outpatient and inpatient orthopedics, pediatrics and vestibular rehabilitation. Dr. Alexander moved to Alexandria in 2001, and worked for seven years at Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington, specializing in orthopedics. In 2008, Dr. Alexander launched her own home health physical therapy private practice. Dr. Alexander observed a shift in the practice of physical therapy – a move by many clinics away from a patient-centered practice, towards a model where patient visits included only a brief time with the physical therapist and the remainder of the treatment alone on treatment table, with numerous patients treated side-by-side. Dr. Alexander recognized the need for a better way to provide physical therapy, comprised of greater personalized care in a more warm and inviting setting. In 2011, Dr. Alexander opened her own outpatient physical therapy practice to provide this level of care. Today, the practice continues the same, patient centric focus as her home health care practice.
